Starting Out

Writing has always been something I loved doing, since I started recognising words. I love reading too, and I used to write stories in my head when I was younger. I got distracted for a while, and pursued education and other interests. But recently, I rediscovered my love for writing and it is firmly back on my agenda now. I've decided to take this step towards using my gift and passion for writing and see where it would take me.

I'll be putting up my practice notes on this blog - in form of short stories. I feel they are a great way to improve my prose, conflict, dialogue and characterisation. I hope to continue improving my work, by reading and of course writing! I will publish that novel yet....

Welcome

Welcome to my blog! My name is Tolulope Popoola (aka Favoured Girl), and I'm a writer and lover of books and all things literature. I used to be an Accountant, until I rediscovered my love for writing and became a full-time writer in 2008. I'm the creator and one of the writers for the fiction series and book, In My Dreams It Was Simpler. I'm also working on a novel and a collection of short stories, to be released soon.

I also write short stories, poems and articles for magazines. This blog features some of my work - short stories, poems and excerpts from my novel. I also feature interviews with other writers, excerpts from upcoming authors and reviews of books that I've read. Hope you enjoy reading.
